History & Origins
• Banaya gaya tha Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan ne, around 1639–1648 mein, jab unhone apni capital Agra se shift karke nayi Mughal capital banai aur uska centre banaya yeh fort. 
• Fort ka naam Lal Qila isliye pada kyunki iski moh-milki diwarein red sandstone se bani hain. Lal = red, Qila = fort. 
• Is fortress mein Mughal emperors ne almost 200 years tak residence banaya hua tha. 
Geography & Layout
• Old Delhi mein situated hai, Shahjahanabad region mein. Fort ke lambi diwarein, gateways (Lahori Gate, Delhi Gate), bahut saare halls aur pavilions hain, gardens hain, aur fort ke andar ek water channel system bhi tha jise Nahr-i-Behisht ya “Stream of Paradise” kehte hain. 
• Architectural style Mughal hai, lekin ismein Persian, Timurid aur Hindu influences bhi hain — jaise decorative carvings, pietra dura, jali work aur arches.

• Lahori Gate aur Delhi Gate se entrance, phir Chatta Chowk (old bazaar style covered market inside fort) jahan pe kharidari thi pehle. 
• Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience) — jahan emperor aam logo se milte the; Diwan-e-Khas (Private Audience) jahan kuch chuninda log jaate the; Rang Mahal, Moti Masjid, Hammams (royal baths) etc. 
• Mumtaz Mahal ka area jahan ab museum hai — Mughal time ke artefacts, paintings, fabrics etc. 
• Evening Light & Sound Show — fort ki history dramatized tariqe se dikhaya jata hai.
Significance
• UNESCO World Heritage Site (2007) hai. 
• Independence Day ki ceremony yahin hoti hai: Prime Minister yahin se national flag halaata hai. 
• Symbol hai Indian history ka — Mughal rule ka, colonial times ka, aur independence struggle ka.
